We were introduced to the idea of running with Ben just over 4 years ago and since then have completed many 10k runs, 15 half marathons and 1 marathon, and have been lucky enough to join the best running club in the world.
We have now set up Ben’s Buggy Fund to provide buggies for other families so they can enjoy running experience, which provides great sensory stimulus for the children, exercise for the parents and the opportunity to participate in some great events.
In August 2018 our friend John Hammond set up a running challenge, running 1 mile on the 1st, 2 on the 2nd and so on through to 31 miles on 31st. A staggering total of 496 miles.
We stayed with him as long as possible and clocked up over 200 miles, countless high fives and so many incredible memories!
With money still being collected we've reached the £9000 mark and think we'll top £10000 in the next couple of weeks.
We kick started the challenge at the Kirkby Milers track night and were happy and proud to have Cheryl and Hannah join us for the first mile in their new buggy - click here to see the daily progress
In August alone we provided 5 buggies and contributed to another custom wheelchair (currently being built). Our aim is to keep providing buggies and raising awareness of the benefits of assisted running.
If you feel you or someone you know would benefit from a running buggy please get in touch. Contact Us
Last year we were able to donate a buggy to Holly Smallman and also one to Croxteth Parkrun:
In 2015 and 2016 we were raising awareness for Phelan McDermid Syndrome and to raise funds for PMSF UK and a number of local charities. In 2014 through a number of runs, rides, truck pulls, sky dives, footy marathons and peoples pure generosity, we raised £12,000 for; Kingsbury Special Needs School - Ben's School Phelan McDermid Syndrome Foundation - Official Foundation Ben's Trust Fund
